Wincle Village
Local Guide
Wincle Village
Wincle is a small, working countryside village in the Dane Valley, and it is home for all three of our properties. It is the kind of place where the pub, the church and the farms still set the rhythm of the week, and where a short stroll rewards you with river, woodland and hill views.
Eat and drink well
For a small village, Wincle does remarkably well for food and drink. The village pub serves proper food and local ales a short walk across the fields from the farm. Close by you will find an artisan bakery for morning loaves and pastries, and an ice cream farm that is always a hit with younger guests.
A proper countryside setting
The village sits just inside the Peak District National Park, surrounded by footpaths. The River Dane runs below the village, with walks along its banks in both directions, and the lanes around Wincle are quiet enough for a gentle evening wander.
Good to know
- The pub is a five minute walk across the fields from Mellor Knowl
- The bakery and ice cream farm are both a short drive or a pleasant walk away
- Wincle Brewery, the village microbrewery, is covered in its own guide entry
